The High Motion
Tolerant (HMT) function is a noise cancellation algorithm that allows
the user to filter out noise. The HMT algorithm is based on using two
pressure signal sources, the ring and the main source. The algorithm
estimates the motion noise from the ring signal and cancels this
estimated noise from the main signal. HMT is designed to cancel noise
and provide accurate Blood Pressure measurements for patients in
constant, continuous, or rapid frequency motion, such as that
encountered from running on a treadmill.
It is important to note that you should always begin your monitoring
with HMT off. Monitor your patient for five readings to establish a
baseline prior to selecting HMT:ON. Also, when monitoring with HMT on,
the monitor Cycle Time needs to be set to Continual.
