Legato
OEM Developer’s Kit

The Legato™ OEM Developer’s Kit is a collection of components, software, and information to provide a learning and evaluation platform for the application of the Legato™ OEM Blood Pressure Module and the Vasotrac® APM205A Patient Cable. It provides an understanding of the operation of the Legato™ Module and the requirements for the developer’s own product, to interface with, and incorporate the Legato™ Module.

The Legato™ OEM Blood Pressure Module and the Vasotrac® APM205A Patient Cable combine to make a non-invasive blood pressure monitor which uses a pressure sensor placed on the wrist over the radial artery. This sensor is noninvasive, and eliminates the need for an occlusive inflatable cuff. This investigational device has been designed to continually monitor systolic, diastolic, mean blood pressure, and pulse-rate as part of a developer’s larger system that provides other, related functions.

The Legato™ Module incorporates a patented “sweep technique” which applies a varying force on the radial artery. The counter pressure in the artery produces a signal that is digitized and used to calculate blood pressure parameters.

The sensor measures the pulse at the point of maximum energy transfer, and Medwave’s proprietary algorithms analyze the wave shapes. Parameters are extracted from the waveforms, and a set of coefficients is applied to them, yielding systolic, mean, and diastolic pressures approximately every 15 heart beats. These algorithms have been tested and validated in clinical studies by synchronized comparisons to arterial line pressure waveforms.
