Vasotrac
APM205A
System Features and Specifications |
Non-Invasive
Eliminates those risks
associated with invasive monitoring to the patient and caregiver.
Microprocessor
Based Design
The Texas Instrument
TMS320 generation of digital signal processors (DSP's) are high performance
CMOS 32-bit floating-point devices. Since 1982, when the TMS32010 was
introduced, the TMS320 family, with its powerful instruction sets,
high-speed number crunching capabilities, and innovative architectures,
established itself as an industry standard and is ideal for DSP
applications. With a clock speed of 33MHz/min, this processor provides
reliable, high speed digital signal processing.
Artifact Rejection
Two levels of noise filtering software exist with the Vasotrac system. The first is a filter which identifies motion, and pulls the sensor away from the artery, until such time that the motion stops. This is useful in anesthesia and ICU environments, or when longer cycle times are used. The second level is our High Motion Tolerant (HMT) algorithm. This is used in continual monitoring, and when movement is such that routine NIBP devices just do not work, such as in cardiac rehab, stress labs, EMS/EMT environments.
Audible and Visual Alarms
Audible and visual
alarms for systolic, diastolic and mean pressures and pulse rate can be set
to individual parameters or preset default values. Additional alarms will
alert the caregiver of any abnormal condition or failure with the system.
The audible alarm is a piezo buzzer whose clear penetrating sound quality,
typically 85 decibels, makes it ideal for this application.
LCD and LED Displays
The monitor has a 128
x 240 pixel liquid crystal display (LCD) with integrated blue-white
electro-luminescence back light. Its display area is 2.5" x 4.5"
[6.4 cm x 11.4 cm]. The caregiver can view the patient's pulse rate,
pressure waveforms, trending, and alarm and clock settings. There are three
(3) solid-state seven segment high intensity light emitting diodes (LED's ).
Their size: .75" x 1.5" [1.9 cm x 3.8 cm]. These LED's display
clear, continuous readout of patient's systolic, diastolic and mean
pressures in evenly lighted red segments.
Analog
I/0 Jack
The 1/4" standard
phone jack connector labeled 'Analog 1/0' on the rear of the monitor may be
used for viewing or recording the wave shape of the blood pressure pulse.
The jack uses a standard 1/4" stereo phone plug. A shielded cable is
recommended. The I/O port S+ signal ranges from approximately 0 to + 3
volts, with a scale of 1 volt per 100mmHg (approximately).
Dataport
The 25-pin connector
labeled 'Data Port' on the rear of the Vasotrac APM205A may be used for an
optional printer or external computer. The data port is an EIA-232 serial
port (commonly referred to as RS232). A standard RS232 cable is normally
used, 25 pins at one end for the Vasotrac, the other must match the optional
printer or external computer requirements. A 25-pin null modem connector is
usually required when connecting to a personal computer such as an IBM-PC.
Connect the null modem to the Vasotrac, then the cable to the null modem.
